Hideaki Oshiro, Piano (Japan)

Hideaki OshiroHideaki Oshiro was born in Okinawa Island- located in the most southern part of Japan. He received his bachelor and master degrees from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. He studied piano with Tsuyoshi Higa, Hitomi Itokazu, Kayoko Miyagi, and Setsuko Iwasaki. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of Kansas in the USA, with the thesis of “A Search for Identity: Compositional and Piano Technique in Albéniz’s Iberia, Book 3, and piano study with Sequeira Costa. In 2007, he returned to Japan. In 2008, he received Okinawa Times Art Election Award. While the time, joining with Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra for Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto and Okinawa Symphony Orchestra for Saint-Saëns’ 5th Piano Concerto “Egyptian,” and Liszt’s Totentanz. Since then he has performed in Japan, Australia, France, Portugal, and the USA. He is now teaching at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts and Ryukyu Classical Academy. Also he is active for Chamber Orchestral Music – playing such as J.S.Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, Finzi’s Eclogue for Piano and Strings. Since 2012 he has been active as a member of Ryukyu Virtuoso that is a fusion of Ryukyu Traditional Music and Western Music.

In this great International Music Festival “Evmelia” V in Greece, he plays Takashi Yoshimatsu’s Forgetful Angel and Suite “Taira no Kiyomori,” and Nikolai Kapustin’s Sinfonietta, and Faustas Laténas’s Sonata for Cello and Piano.
